Iberia will take the men’s national football team to the World Cup in Qatar.

It becomes the official airline of both senior football teams 11

Iberia and the Royal Spanish Football Federation have today signed an agreement by which the airline will be until 2026 the Official Airline of the Men’s and Women’s Football 11 Teams for their trips to all sports competitions.

The signing of the agreement took place this morning, at the headquarters of the Federation, in the Sports City of Las Rozas, between Luis Rubiales, president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, and Javier Sánchez-Prieto, president of Iberia.

Luis Rubiales thanked Iberia for its “bet” on our national teams, in five “important” years for Spanish football, which will try to organize the 2030 World Cup. The president of the RFEF stressed that Iberia and the National Team share colors and are part of the Spain Brand. “You have a scale of values from which we have a lot to learn,” he told Iberia representatives. “We have faced every day in these four years since we arrived at the RFEF as if it were the first, in hard years. We are with renewed energy and with the pride that Iberia wants to be by our side”, he concluded.

For his part, Javier Sánchez-Prieto commented that “for us it is a pride that the Royal Federation trusts once again in Iberia to take the football teams on their trips, because it reinforces us in our role as Honorary Ambassadors of the Spain Brand and, above all, allows us to take with us the illusion of an entire country to the different competitions; this year, to the Women’s European Championship and the World Cup in Qatar. The constant effort and eagerness to improve both teams are an example for Iberia employees and for all of us who consider that every day is the first day”.

With Iberia to the World Cup in Qatar
This five-year agreement, from 2022 to 2026, includes discounts and other benefits on the travel of the absolute 11-a-side football teams, as well as the organization of charter flights for different competitions.

Among others, Iberia will take the women’s senior football team 11 to the European Championship, which will be played in England from July 6 to 31.

And in November, the men’s men’s national football 11 team will fly with Iberia to Qatar, to play the FIFA World Cup, which will be held between November 21 and December 18.

Support for more than 100 Spanish talent initiatives
Iberia’s agreement with the Royal Spanish Football Federation is part of its Talent on Board project, which aims to support art, sport, culture, gastronomy and R&D&I in Spanish, and contribute to putting them in value by giving them visibility inside and outside our borders.

Talento on board has already supported more than 100 initiatives of sport, culture and R + D + i, in line with the purpose of Iberia “From Spain, we generate prosperity by connecting people with the world”. The airline focuses, therefore, on those who use the Spanish language or who have some link with our country or our culture, seeking a balance between emerging and consolidated talent.

As proof of this, last week Iberia presented its Talent Team on Board for Paris 2024; a group of 12 athletes, men and women, Olympians and Paralympians and less massive disciplines such as swimming, climbing or athletics, whom Iberia will support in their preparation for the next Olympic Games.
